Participating in this competition allowed us to develop a concrete example of our architectural vision, applying knowledge gained during our travels and addressing current issues affecting the Italian territory. The solutions we developed have turned this project into our design manifesto.
 

The Rural Housing competition aimed to imagine new ways of living in the Lombard countryside through the recovery of traditional rural architecture.
 

The cascina, organized around a central courtyard following the typical layout of the Lombard plain, was reinterpreted by preserving the courtyard as the core of community life. Food self-production becomes an integral part of the residents’ daily routines, enhancing the local agricultural and food culture. Each resident has access to both shared and private cultivation areas, benefiting from the climate and fertility of the site.
 

From a construction standpoint, the project proposes the renovation of the buildings through an internal “skin” made of hempcrete, a natural, low-impact material that ensures breathability, moisture control, fire resistance, and thermal insulation.
